About the plant

• Adorn your indoor and outdoor space with this aesthetically colourful stripy patterned foliage, with long pointy lance-shaped leaves; underside of leaves often purple-red or greyish with an unusual habit of folding up its leaves during night time, thus its nickname ‘Fishbone Prayer Plant’. This plant can add a sense of tranquility and beauty to any setting. Enjoy the beauty of this plant all year round as it flourishes during autumn, winter, summer and spring.
• Loves bright indirect light indoors but can tolerate low light; outdoors they prefer shady spot as direct sun can scorch their leaves. They prefer humid environment; misting the plant daily will make this plant a happy plant. Low light may cause the silvery foliage to fade, become less bushy and leggy as they etiolate for light. Insufficient light cause the leaf to turn darker green; too much light the colour fades.
• Similar to most bathroom plants such as Peace Lily, English Ivy, Pothos, ZZ plant, Spider plants, Snake plants also absorbs moisture from the air.
• Though it can tolerate wide temperature range, it still needs to avoid direct scorching heat and freezing temperature. It can produce flower on a spike but it is extremely unlikely as a houseplant especially if grown indoors. This is only possible with perfect indoor care as these plants are not easiest to bloom out of their natural habitat. Ctenanthe Oppenheimiana is a member of the Marantaceae family, more commonly known as the Prayer Plant family, it is often confused for any number of Maranta or Calathea. Allied species: Ctenanthe Lubbersiana, Ctenanthe Burle-Marxi, Ctenanthe Setosa Grey Star.
