About the plant

• Fast growing and easy to maintain, popular for its vibrant multicoloured foliage and has many varieties, they are popular as an ornamental, groundcover and landscaping plant.
  Coleus makes great companion for begonias and other flowering plants.
• Foliage changes depending on where the plant is placed: lighter foliage in indirect sunlight or shade; brighter and vibrant colours in bright direct sunlight.
• Suitable for border landscaping, mass planting, hanging basket, pots and container gardening.
  
• Although heat tolerant but they do less well in extreme hot summer. Can be grown indoors preferably near a sunny window.
  
• Prefers well drained soil in pots, moderate moisture and likes partial and full sun. They do well in shady areas but their light requirements vary depending on the species.
  Some cultivars need bright and direct light to produce abundant blooms. The foliage/colours are more intense in shaded location than full sun.
• Coleus can grow tall up to a 2 metres; pruning regularly promotes bushy growth. Produces small blue- violet flowers in autumn and summer.
• Coleus is not poisonous to humans but its sap can cause skin irritation. They also contain essential oils that are toxic to pets and other animals.
